Hair Fair 2012 : Water

Hair Fair 2012 : Water

July 26, 2012 |  by  |  anya ohmai, events, lookbook

Whoo! One more sim to go and I’d have knocked all 4 sims from this year’s Hair Fair – it’s been yet another fun filled round of blogging about hairs, and I’m already looking forward to next years which I’m certain will be equally amazing as usual.

Water was the sim that I was most unfamiliar about in terms of designers, most of them were stores that I’ve seen in previous Hair Fairs but did not frequent most of the time. This really equates to being a little more adventurous with the themes, styling and moving away from what I’m more comfortable with. Either ways, I’m certain I’m walking away from this years fair having more designers on my belt to frequent and keep an eye for.

My favorites from this sim ended up being 2 stores that I usually never wear, Analog Dog and Discord Designs, just for pure creativity in terms of the styles they offered. Analog Dog won me over with their “Issues” hair, which is basically a loonnggg braid, piled over and over on top of each other and even around the eyes. You can click to get rid of that braid around your eyes but I found myself in love with that effect. The textures on Analog Dog was really breath taking too, it’s very soft yet still has that grit of real hair. Even though there was only this one style that I particularly liked, it became my favorites from this sim.

Discord Designs had a bunch of dreadlock hairs (Which I apparently seem to be fonding over quite abit this year… I just realized) which were very creatively done. They also had a short buzz Mohawk called “Bouncer” That I found really well done. It fits easily and even from a distance you can kinda feel the spiky texture of the hair just from the way it’s sculpted.

Epoque is obviously a brand that holds close to my heart. I’ve been a fan of their hair ever since they were first known as Vintage Wear (It was actually one of the first hairs I ever purchased in sl *gasp gasp*). They’ve changed their textures completely and its not quite as smooth as before, which actually increases the realism of their hairs. At the same time, Epoque probably offers the best colored versions of their hair, from the ombre dip dyes to the pastel shades, they’re truly well done and one of a kind! It’s why I choose to feature their hairs in the colored shades for these set of pictures.

Wasabi Pills is also a familiar brand that’s been releasing a ton of mesh hairs. I love their mesh hairs because they’re always full (sometimes too big for my noggin), and never look flat. I really like “Aida” which is a half shaved head that’s braided and “Brigitte”, those were my top picks from Wasabi Pills!

I’m also featuring 2 hair styles from esk-imo which is a brand I always visit every year for Hair Fair and I’m always amazed to see the growth coming from this creator. I remember the first few hairs I got from her were with caps, they were adorable, but then she just kept improving every single year! This year without fail its once again a big improvement, even in the texture department as she offers dip dyes and colorful packs which are very well done as well!

Vanity Hair carried one styled dreadlocked hair that fits very well with one of the themes I’m showing. I really liked the hairbase that came with that as well. Have I ever mentioned how I love that hair creators are offering their hair bases with their work now? I remember I use to wear booN’s hairbases with every single hair, and now I have a ton of hair bases to pick from! It’s a lovely use of the tattoo layer!

Lala Moon and Heartless both carry feminine casual hair styles that are very nice too. I wish I looked a lot better in some of Lala Moon’s styles, because I really did like the textures they have – even though slightly on the shiny side, the colors were great. Heartless however had a very interesting rougher texture than most hairs available; I actually really like it just cause it feels like realistic hair should. I’ve never seen this store before, at least I don’t recall… but they’re really a good brand with solid styles to show for this round!

MUA! Onto Hair!
