It’s that time of the week again when I attempt blog challenges! I see a few others popping up around different blogs that look super fun to do, but my hands are tied this moment to join any more. I might post twice today to cover both challenges though~ So onto 52 Color Challenge week 3 which features one of my favorite shades of yellow, Goldenrod. This slightly brownish yellow can be found in many jackets and pants in world, but I wanted to see if I could find a skirt for it and I was lucky enough to stumble upon CheerNo‘s skirt which works perfectly for what I had in mind!
A fun fact about Goldenrod from trusty ol’ Wikipedia — the first known recorded use of goldenrod as a color name in English was in 1915, a crayola crayon has this name and color but a lighter version was only released in 1958! Ta-da, something you can tell your friends and family during dinner~
*waves* This will be my final post for Modavia fashion week 2011 — hope you guys haven’t been too bored with these! The week has definitely inspired me to mix and match a little more fashion-y than my usual more casual looks.
But for today’s post, I find myself going back to something more casual based, simply because Maylee from the Secret Store has created some uber mix and match friendly items! I’m a big fan of Maylee’s technique in making prints for her designs, her colors have always been brave and out there, but always pleasing to the eyes. This was a very well thought out collection, from not only the items but the set itself during the show complimented her designs very well. So hope you guys enjoy these color friendly looks plus once again, check out Modavia for more amazing goodies~
So here’s 2 more Modavia inspired looks, remember most Modavia fashion week items that were being showcased in their shows would be available on their sim for the next 2 months! Then designers will launch their respective collections in store whenever they see fit.
One trend I spotted during the week of Modavia madness was that a lot of the designers paid homage to various aviary creatures, there’s huge feather capes, shawls, dresses adorned with feathers, even entire dresses made out of the body of a bird. Now that last one looks more amazing than I described obviously. So I wanted to do 2 looks which feathered some of the amazing designs created inspired by our creatures of flight.
Modavia Fashion Week 2011 wrapped up on Thursday, with a very grand finale from Paper Couture who showcased 6 of their gowns from their 2011 collection. It’s been a fun filled week for me filled with inspirational designs from all the designers participating. I hope to do a few more looks from various collections currently available on the Modavia sim (and will be for the next 2 months as well!) to try and cover the designers participating. But for this post, I really wanted to feature one of my favorite dresses from not only the Paper Couture collection but for gowns in SL in general.
Just to note before I go on gushing, Paper Couture items are out at Modavia — it’s not in the usual middle area but at the row of shops right at the end of the sim. 6 of the outfits showcased on the runway will be sold, but jewelry, skins and the other parts of their collection won’t be available till later notice. Ava and Cora really did put on quite a show, the VIP sim was packed to the brim and so was the audience sim. I still recall the first Paper Couture collection that I witnessed and I’m proud to have “lived” through 3 different ones in SL thus far. What I love about this brand is the joy and excitement they bring to the fashion community. Not necessarily because they’re the best couture designers but because they make you remember that SL isn’t about being the best or wearing the latest thing, more so just doing what you love and having fun in the process.
Alphabet Challenge round 2, the letter B! I might have accidentally worn some non B items due to a lack of sleep, but I didn’t want to change it cause it looked good the way it is, minor error — apologies *shames* When I think of the letter B and its association, I thought of boys, briefcases and bears, an odd combination I must say. But I really ended up loving what I did, a semi menswear inspired style, with elements of crazy kooky fun around it.
Beetlebones’ Bear Gatcha has been one of my favorite props to use in blogs, they’re so easy to mod and throw around to do crazy things. If you guys haven’t dropped by her store for a look, please go support my favorite sister XD I mentioned in my previous blog that her cardigan is in stores, apparently I must have gotten that factoid wrong. She retired it a while back, but sue has reassured me that she might be remaking the same one in a better quality in the future so WHOO! Look out for that. Hope you guys like this look and if you’re thinking of attempting this challenge, hop on board!
