52 Weeks of Color Week Three: Goldenrod

52 Weeks of Color Week Three: Goldenrod

September 22, 2011 |  by  |  52 Weeks of Color Challenge, anya ohmai, lookbook

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt blog challenges! I see a few others popping up around different blogs that look super fun to do, but my hands are tied this moment to join any more. I might post twice today to cover both challenges though~ So onto 52 Color Challenge week 3 which features one of my favorite shades of yellow, Goldenrod. This slightly brownish yellow can be found in many jackets and pants in world, but I wanted to see if I could find a skirt for it and I was lucky enough to stumble upon CheerNo‘s skirt which works perfectly for what I had in mind!

A fun fact about Goldenrod from trusty ol’ Wikipedia — the first known recorded use of goldenrod as a color name in English was in 1915, a crayola crayon has this name and color but a lighter version was only released in 1958! Ta-da, something you can tell your friends and family during dinner~

52 Weeks of Color Week Two: Blue

52 Weeks of Color Week Two: Blue

September 13, 2011 |  by  |  52 Weeks of Color Challenge, anya ohmai, lookbook

I’m taking a break from Modavia blogging for a bit to do some of the challenges I started last week, first up is Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color and the second week was the color Blue! When I first attempted this challenge, I started off with blue as opposed to grey, I did a casual look that showcased some denim pieces and my aim was that I avoided denim at all cost at my second attempt. I ended up with a look that’s rather different from the usual type of styling I did, but for some odd reason, I really thought it fits the skin well.

Inaya’s Lykli skin is a skin that I bought because it was terribly interesting as opposed to the regular pretty cute skins, I never got a chance to wear it for blogging purposes, so this will be my first time trying it on. I do occasionally have my moods where I switch to completely ethnic skins, it’s a fun way to change your look up using the same shape.

Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge is currently on week 44 — so for those who have been continuously attempting this challenge, I applaud you! I’ve noticed that I can get into a number of phases and shut off other things, and there’s a tendency to not finish what I started. I really want to kick this bad habit of mine, so I decided that this time, I shall truly attempt to finish this right from the start yet again. Crosses my fingers on this statement~ If any of you are thinking of attempting this challenge from the start, I urge you to try! Suffer with meh D: Haha… I kid, not suffer, but let’s work on this together.

Ohmai’s 52 Weeks of Color : Yellow

Ohmai’s 52 Weeks of Color : Yellow

December 12, 2010 |  by  |  52 Weeks of Color Challenge, anya ohmai, lookbook

I decided to do this week’s color a lot earlier since it’s my finals week and after that I might be traveling and losing internet connections huhu… but hopefully I won’t! I’m crossing my fingers that my mother’s Facebook obsession would call for internet at the hotel *_* This week yellow reminded me a lot of the previous week’s golden rod and I might still be a tad bit into that color hence i’m doing a mixture of yellows as opposed to pure bright yellow. When I think of yellow, I somehow thought of ducks, hence why I’m featuring little duckies in the look. The ducks come from D-lab and if you haven’t visited D-lab’s new sim… you have to. D-lab is one of those creators whose imagination works so incredibly, when you’re in D-lab it’s like being transported into his insane genius mind of fun and childlike wonder. I absolutely love the peeing dog fountain (Yes!! There’s a peeing dog fountain!) and the little shops with names inspired by the different animals Dazai has made.

I’m featuring Mon Tissu‘s So Boho Blouse and Prudence Cardigan as well, I’ll be featuring more items from Elie Spot (Emma Gilmour) and Anouk Spot (Julliette Westerburg) brand new line very soon *crosses fingers for time*. I truly am amazed by collaboration between these 2 amazing artists, if you’re a nitpicker at details I’m sure you would be too. Every single piece from them have been done with such delicate skill and precise attention to detail, what looks like simple casual pieces are actually intricate handiwork done by the girls. I’m utterly amazed by how real these pieces are yet you can completely see the artistic hand drawn work that goes inside each piece. I’m excited to see what’s coming up in the future for Mon Tissu, and the owner’s original individual stores of Surf Co and Tres Blah as well. Applauds and a job well done to them. Not only that, I’m sure many of you have seen photos of Lula being shown around, the sim is done with as much attention to detail as the clothes have and kudos to Turnip Sorbet for a job well done! I love camming around and seeing the lopsided windows, the little cracks on the walls, the frosted windows… it’s amazing that place! So 2 sims to check out go goo~~ more?

Ohmai’s 52 Weeks of Color : Sepia

Ohmai’s 52 Weeks of Color : Sepia

December 10, 2010 |  by  |  52 Weeks of Color Challenge, anya ohmai, lookbook

So I made it just in the nick of time! Before the next color comes up~ It’s been a busy week really, so I’ve been having trouble feeling inspired for this weeks color. Sepia was a toughie for me, partly cause initially I thought it was going to be easy, it’ll be just brown! And then I realized I’m confused with what sepia actually is. The color put out was a more yellowish sepia which was sadly not found in my inventory at all, so I decided to go with the description on Wikipedia where it said sepia is a gray brown sorta pigment. I think the look ended up a little more brown than sepia, but it’ll have to work for now.

That jacket from Mr.Poet comes for mens, but with a little bit of modding and moving it around, it easily becomes a great leather jacket for females! The details on this jacket set is just crazy, but then again you expect nothing less from Mr.Poet! The background for both my pictures was taken by Sasy Scarborough for a new flickr group called Second Life Stock Images. If you’re looking for second life backgrounds to use on your photos or blogs, this is a great resource and I’m surprised no one has done this earlier! I love the current choices available and you can contribute background shots to the group if you wish to as well. So thank you for such an amazing resource! more?
